Reading the banter between the child and parents is funny and really hits home.The writer takes a stressful time in life and makes is very humerous. I truly enjoyed this book. It felt like a great sit down with your best friend, over coffee, sharing stories of the antics of your aging parents. I laughed. I cried. I laughed some more!
The book "Split-Level Elders" addresses issues owned by many in the age 50 plus crowd cantankerous aging parents, siblings who failed to launch, rapidly emptying ( or empty ) nests. Sound depressing? Not this book. Mr. Stine handles these themes with a good sense of humor. A skill anyone could use during life's messier moments. The hilarious narrative and neat plot twists keep you laughing too hard for tears. You may or may not see yourself in these pages, but you will definitely see somebody you know. This is an excellent read that shows there is light at the end of the tunnel for all of us!
One of the funniest books I've read. Anyone who has ever cared for an elderly parent or known someone who has cared for an elderly parent must read this book. For those who have never had the honor of caring for a parent should read this book as a funny look for what may be in store for them!
